Artist’s Note
Collection of Sara Rubin, Toronto.
I recently saw a painting by Cy Twombly of dark trees. I decided to take my tree paintings into a new realm of acrylics. Most of my tree paintings are in watercolour. The inspiration comes from the trees along the Pacific Spirit Park at the University of British Columbia, part of which is along the shoreline.
It is a mixed media painting employing tissue paper with dabs of acrylic colour, pieces of parts of my own paintings, a little bit of gay abandon, but ensuring reflections on the sea. The lightness reference evokes balloons and/or trees or both on reflection. I enjoyed painting this piece!
