Artist’s Note
I completed an En Plein Air series of areas around Tofino. Most were painted in Spring and early Summer, which is when the colours tend to be stronger.
Shell beach is a favourite area because of the rocks and vegetation. The colours are spectacular, and draw me into an almost emotional state attempting to replicate them, and at the same time adapt them to my feelings about the place.
I am trying a new watercolour paper named Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress which I am finding takes watercolours easier and allows for lifting better than Arches.
