Artist’s Note
I sat on the beach in Whytecliff Park and painted this watercolour en plein air. I was with a friend who discovered this park a few years ago and had started a painting he wanted to finish. It's a great location. The beach is mostly pebbles and rocks. Not many people around until later in the day. A few wanted to see and were complimentary. The weather was perfect, but of course one has to paint quickly as the shadows and the colours change, so this is not exactly what I saw over a period of three hours, but I think I captured the essence of the island and colours of the sea.
